Charlie Appleby has three Godolphin two-year-olds declared for Saint-Cloud on Sunday, 25 October 2026. First Law stays at 1,600 metres in the Group 1 Criterium International; Al Jabbar and Royal Acclamation contest the 2,000-metre Group 1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud. This is a preview of declared runners, not a result or a retrospective prediction.

France Galop lists eight races on Sunday, including three Group 1 and three Group 3 contests. Each of the two juvenile Group 1 races has seven declared runners. Final participation and race-day going remain subject to the official declarations and conditions.

A son of Too Darn Hot, First Law won on debut at Sandown and made all in the Listed Ascendant Stakes on heavy ground at Haydock. He was fourth in the Group 2 Royal Lodge at Newmarket. His first top-level assignment asks whether he can return to his earlier rhythm on a slower surface after that latest run.

A new distance for Al Jabbar and Royal Acclamation

Al Jabbar won a Doncaster maiden and then stayed on for third in the Group 3 Emirates Autumn Stakes over a mile. He now moves up to 2,000 metres. Royal Acclamation has progressed across four runs, culminating in a nine-furlong Goodwood maiden win. Both the distance and Group 1 standard present fresh tests; earlier improvement does not establish Sunday’s outcome.

Read the two racecards separately

Racing Post lists Al Jabbar and Royal Acclamation among seven declared for the 2,000-metre race, with William Buick and Billy Loughnane respectively on its published card. France Galop also reports seven for the 1,600-metre contest. The distances and fields should remain distinct when assessing First Law and his stablemates.

What to watch on Sunday

First Law has won on heavy ground, Al Jabbar finished strongly in a Group 3, and Royal Acclamation makes his first Pattern-race start. These are documented career markers. Their effect under Sunday’s actual going, increased trip and draw cannot be settled in advance. Aletaq will check the official result before publishing placings.
