Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe

Daryz retained the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at ParisLongchamp on 4 October 2026, becoming the first male horse to complete the consecutive double since Alleged in 1977 and 1978. Mickaël Barzalona rode the Francis-Henri Graffard-trained colt for Aga Khan Studs.
Daryz was held up near the rear before Barzalona switched him wide in the straight. With about 300 metres remaining he passed Diamond Necklace, caught leader Bay City Roller and won by one and a quarter lengths.
The victory lifted the Aga Khan family’s record Arc tally to nine. Racing Post records the race over a mile and a half on good ground, while France Galop gives the official time as 2:27.11.

Watch Daryz move to the outside in the straight: he passes Diamond Necklace, then accelerates towards the leader, Bay City Roller. His turn of foot in the closing stages is the key to retaining the title by a length and a quarter.
