Melbourne Cup: 3 November at Flemington
Victoria Racing Club has scheduled the Melbourne Cup for Tuesday, 3 November 2026 at Flemington Racecourse. The feature is a Group 1 over 3,200 metres. The date also matches the Melbourne Cup holiday listed in Victoria’s official public-holiday calendar.
The distance places stamina and the distribution of effort at the centre of race assessment. In reviewing a horse’s preparation, success at middle distances should be distinguished from the ability to sustain an effective rhythm over a longer test.
Cup Day precedes the closing features of the Melbourne Cup Carnival. This event page brings together the date, distance and venue, helping readers organise their racing calendar while keeping the current programme separate from results of previous editions.
