Aintree takes transferred November feature races
Aintree will race on 6–7 November after Exeter and Wincanton cancellations; Sandown switches to hurdles.
The British Horseracing Authority confirmed on 27 October that Aintree will hold an additional fixture on Friday 6 November, extending its meeting to two days. The change follows cancellation of Exeter on 6 November and Wincanton on 7 November because their ground is unsuitable for jump racing.
The transferred programme includes the Haldon Gold Cup, Rising Stars Novices’ Chase and a staying handicap chase. The Jockey Club attributes the ground problems to the dry summer and limited autumn rainfall. These are National Hunt races over hurdles or fences, distinct from arena show jumping.
A new entry deadline
Original entries for the transferred early-closing Premier Handicap are cancelled. Trainers must enter again by noon on Saturday 31 October, UK local time. The Class 3 novices’ limited handicap chase moves from Aintree’s Saturday card to Friday.
Sandown, Plumpton and Uttoxeter
Sandown’s 8 November card becomes all-hurdles. Separately, the BHA added seven-race fixtures at Plumpton on 5 November and Uttoxeter on 7 November, increasing the available racing opportunities that week.
